How to cancel John Lewis broadband

What you need to know about cancelling John Lewis broadband

John Lewis Broadband will be closing on the 28th May 2024.

If you're a current customer, you should have received your last bill. On this page, we'll run through any last-minute cancellation checks you may need to make.

What to do before you cancel John Lewis broadband

John Lewis broadband that's provided by Plusnet will be closing in May 2024.

Because of this, you have two choices; either move to Plusnet and sign up to a brand-new contract, or move to another broadband provider completely. If you don't, you'll find your broadband and phone line will be suspended.

It's important to take action as soon as possible if you have a Telecare device, emergency pendant or personal alarm connected to your phone line or broadband.

Find a new broadband deal

Assuming you want to keep getting broadband, you’ll need to have a new deal in place to take over when your John Lewis broadband connection is cancelled.

Switching between providers is easy. In most cases, your new provider will handle the admin for you. There will be no charge to switch away from John Lewis Broadband.

Moving to Plusnet

Plusnet was already providing the service for John Lewis Broadband customers. So, if you were happy with your connection, you may want to switch your account to Plusnet broadband officially.

The Plusnet team are on-hand to chat through your options. Feel free to give them a call on 0800 587 1928.

Alternatively, you can check the Plusnet package options available at your home address using our deals checker.

Most homes will have access to Plusnet Fibre Broadband:

But if you type in your address, you may find you have the option to switch to a much faster, full fibre deal instead.

If you need help to decide which is the best package for you, head to our guide: 'what broadband speed do I need? Do I need fast broadband?'.

  • What’s the difference between ‘fibre’ and ‘full-fibre’ broadband?

Full Fibre broadband is also known as ‘Fibre To The Premises’, ‘Fibre To The Home’. This is often shortened to FTTP or FTTH. They’re all the same thing!

Instead of copper telephone wire making up the final part of the journey from that green cabinet on the street, fibre optic cables are installed right up to your home.

It’s amazing the difference in speed this small data journey can have. With full-fibre broadband you can expect to receive speeds of 1Gb+.

The downside is full-fibre is only available to a small percentage of homes in the UK, and it’s taking a good while to get everyone up to speed.
