BT Full Fibre Broadband
If your current broadband service is too slow, and you’re looking for a reliable upgrade, then a BT Full Fibre broadband deal may be a great option for you.
The only catch is you’ll need to have access to an upgraded FTTP network.
Almost all homes in the UK have access to a BT broadband service in some shape or form. However, to sign up to its full fibre packages, the broadband network that runs to your home needs to have been upgraded so that fibre optic cables make up the entire network journey. This means no copper cable landlines are used at all.
Although more and more homes are gaining access to this technology every day, in 2024, less than 50% of properties in the UK have access to full fibre deals using the BT Openreach FTTP network. So, it’s not a guaranteed service to sign up to.
By December 2026, the aim is for 25 million homes, or 85% of the UK, to be upgraded to an Openreach-enabled, full fibre broadband service.
What are the benefits of BT Full Fibre optic broadband?
With BT Full Fibre broadband, you can expect download speeds up to 25x faster than superfast, part-fibre. This means you’ll be able to download large files much quicker. You’ll also have a much smoother ride if you live in a busy home, even if you're all online during peak times.
Full fibre broadband also offers improved upload speeds, so you can quickly send or back-up large files.
When will BT Full Fibre be available in my area?
If our deals checker shows no results when you enter your address, check the Openreach Fibre page. This way, you can find out when your local exchange is due to be upgraded. Try it now!

How does a home phone service work on a BT full fibre deal?
When you sign up to full fibre service with BT Broadband, home phone calls are made through your broadband connection. BT refers to this as ‘Digital Voice’.
By the end of January 2027, all BT customers will be upgraded to a digital phone line.
Digital Voice is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service. It converts your voice into a digital signal, so it can be sent between devices over the internet.
To make use of Digital Voice, you’ll need to plug your phone into your BT Smart Hub 2 Wi-Fi router rather than your usual phone socket.
The cost of Digital Voice remains as it was with landline calls made over a traditional phone line. However, with VoIP calling, there are a few features that customers can benefit from. This includes advanced spam call blocking.

How to choose the best BT Full Fibre plan
Here are some of the most important things to check:
- Availability: Before doing anything else, enter your address into our fibre checker to find out if its broadband coverage includes you.
- Speed: The maximum speed of the connection. Fibre speeds vary, but an accurate speed estimate will be provided before signing the contract. This is an important part of a fibre package, and it helps if you’re willing to adjust your budget to get the right speed.

- Monthly price: This is the fixed price you’ll pay for the length of your home broadband contract. It includes broadband and any bundled add-ons, but extra charges such as pay as you go phone calls will be added to your bill each month. It's now common for broadband prices to go up at least once a year. Once your contract is up, it's wise to switch service providers to take advantage of the best internet deals.
- Setup: The setup cost varies depending on the type of package you select and whether you need a new phone line. Occasionally, you may find a BT fibre broadband deal with no upfront costs.
- Extras: Click the ‘Offer details and pricing’ dropdown menu to see further information about the package. Extras included with your broadband package might include inclusive calls, and special offers such as BT Reward Cards and other free gifts.
We'll show you an effective monthly price calculation that includes all costs and discounts to help you compare offers.
Frequently asked questions about BT Fibre
-
What is BT Full Fibre?
BT Full Fibre is a broadband connection using fibre optic cabling that travels directly to your property. It’s also sometimes referred to as ‘fibre-to-the-premises’ or FTTP.
Full fibre broadband technology is capable of delivering much faster, ultrafast speeds.
BT customers with access to its FTTC network may have the option of signing up to average speeds up to 910Mb. That’s over fourteen times faster than a service on a standard fibre network. This means less waiting around for downloads, and seamless ultra-high-definition streaming, even in the busiest of homes.

When is BT Full Fibre coming to my area?
Type your address into Broadband Genie’s deals checker to find out if you can already sign up to BT’s full fibre deals. If not, we recommend heading to the Openreach website. Here, you’ll be able to enter your postcode to find out if there are any current plans to develop your local exchange. You can also fill out a form to register for news on Ultrafast Full Fibre updates.
-
How much is BT Full Fibre per month?
Expect to pay anywhere between £30-£65, depending on your chosen speed and whether you take on any extras such as included calls or TV services. As a comparison, BT Fibre 1 (50Mb), which is a standard fibre service, will now often cost you the same as Full Fibre 100 - you'd be silly not to opt for this if you have the choice.
