If you’re keen to cut down on the admin, broadband bundles are a brilliant option. There’s no denying you can save time and hassle by signing up for multiple services at the same time. This often means you’ll only receive one bill every month and only one contract to sign.
While many of us are familiar with broadband being bundled with other telecoms services like landline phone, mobile phones and TV, you still have an option if you’re interested in bundling your broadband service with an energy supplier. However, the choice is now very limited.
Let’s investigate who still offers gas, electricity and broadband bundles, and whether these deals can save you money.
What is an energy and broadband bundle?
With a broadband and energy bundle, you can sign up for gas, electricity (or both). At the same time, you commit to a minimum term broadband contract. Home phone landlines calls may also be included within the same package.
Are there still providers who sell broadband and energy together?
As of October 2024, the options are sparse for new customers who want to bundle in a fibre broadband deal with an energy tariff.
After the selling-off of Shell Energy Broadband, Utility Warehouse is the only major broadband provider that also offers energy as a service.
Utility Warehouse also offers mobile deals (which can also be bundled in), as well as Home Insurance (which cannot).
Creating bundles with Utility Warehouse is a choice - you aren’t forced to do this. But if you are interested, there are several broadband offers and speeds available. The type of broadband and speed of broadband package you can sign up to will depend on whether your home is connected to a full fibre network.

What’s the difference between ‘fibre’ and ‘full-fibre’ broadband?
Full Fibre broadband is also known as ‘Fibre To The Premises’, ‘Fibre To The Home’. This is often shortened to FTTP or FTTH. They’re all the same thing!
Instead of copper telephone wire making up the final part of the journey from that green cabinet on the street, fibre optic cables are installed right up to your home.
It’s amazing the difference in speed this small data journey can have. With full-fibre broadband you can expect to receive speeds of 1Gb+.
The downside is full-fibre isn’t available yet to every home in the UK.
Should you sign up for a broadband and energy bundle?
The three main reasons most typically cited for bundling are price, convenience, and customer service.
Is it cheaper to bundle gas, electricity, and broadband together?
You might think that it would be cheaper to buy all your services from one provider. In our experience, though, this sadly isn’t the case.
The energy marketplace is incredibly competitive in the UK with a wide variety of suppliers to choose from. With some research, you could make a much bigger saving by keeping these deals separate.
Of course, as there’s currently only one internet service provider (Utility Warehouse) that offers broadband and energy bundles, you’ll also have very limited options when it comes to the broadband service too.
There are many broadband providers who may offer you a cheaper contract price, or who often lower their effective monthly cost with rewards of cashback.
To give you an idea, here’s a selection of the best value broadband deals available at the moment:
Is it more convenient to bundle broadband and energy services?
Having just one supplier for both broadband and energy will mean you only have to deal with one monthly bill. Plus, if there are any issues, you should only have one customer service team to get in touch with.
But nowadays, with direct debits, easy and quick broadband switching with ‘One-Touch Switch’, and online support, the convenience is small compared to the amount of money you could save by sourcing separate providers.
Is the customer service better with a bundled energy and broadband deal?
Let’s face it, in most cases, neither broadband suppliers nor energy suppliers are renowned for brilliant customer service.
Yes, there are some exceptions to this rule, but it’s probably not going to be a dealbreaker. In practice, how often are you going to be calling up with an energy and a broadband issue at the same time?
Would you recommend a broadband and energy bundle?
In our experience, for most people, it works out best to source a provider for your internet connection and energy supply individually.
Sourcing separate providers will allow you to choose from a greater selection of broadband packages.
If you’re still looking to save money with a bundle, we recommend comparing either Broadband and TV package, or a Broadband, TV and Phone deal.
Broadband Genie makes this process simple. Type your address and postcode into our deals checker, and you can use the filters to make sure the deals listed also include extras such as TV or home phone calls.
Don’t forget to read the ‘offer details and pricing’ information for extra notes on whether packages include streaming services, or whether you’re required to pay line rental or an upfront fee.
You’ll only be shown broadband deals that are available at your home. If you’re keen on getting a faster broadband speed, you can also use the ‘Sort by’ drop down to order deals by monthly price or average download speed.
Is there anything else to consider when comparing energy suppliers?
While we appreciate that for many people, cost will be one of the key factors in deciding which energy supplier to choose, we'd just like to mention the importance of green energy.
We believe that to help preserve our planet and environment for future generations, we need to collectively reduce our carbon emissions.
We’d encourage you to at the very least consider switching to a supplier who uses renewable energy sources. These deals aren’t as expensive as you might fear. In some cases, you may find their some of the cheapest deal available, so a real win-win all round!
