Your guide to comparing home broadband in Dundee
Many parts of Dundee have excellent choices when it comes to fixed line, fibre broadband through the Openreach, CityFibre or Virgin Media networks.
In fact, we found Dundee to be in the top five fastest cities for the broadband in the UK in 2024.
Almost all homes have access to standard fibre broadband, with average speeds of 65Mb. This should be plenty fast enough for a home with three people.
If there's more of you, or you carry out more data intensive tasks, such as streaking in 4K or downloading large files, full fibre broadband (FTTP) or Virgin Media cable is also available to most in the area. However, you may have to sign up to an independent broadband provider with its own network (altnet). Unfortunately, there's limited scope for full fibre deals on the Openreach network.

What is Openreach?
Openreach is the company that maintains the former British Telecom Network used for the majority of broadband and phone services. If a repair or installation is required, it’s Openreach who will send an engineer, not your provider.
More than 650 service providers using the Openreach network. That’s the majority of the UK’s broadband providers. This includes Sky, TalkTalk and BT. The exception to this is Virgin Media - it uses its own, separate cable network.
When choosing a fixed-line home broadband service, the first step is to find out what’s available for your home.
The easy way to do this is by adding your address into our deals checker. This will make sure you only see providers and packages that are available at your exact address.
You can also use the filters to tailor the results and sort by speed, provider, fibre, or added extras like free rewards vouchers or free installation.
