Let’s dive into the fine print!
Benefits of Virgin Volt deals
Virgin Media Volt is all about benefits and giving more back to Virgin Media and O2 customers. As ever, the devil is in the details, so here we’ll highlight several of the main perks and explain what to expect from each.
Faster broadband speed: package upgrade
Any current Virgin Media broadband package is given an instant speed boost. With Volt, your existing home broadband connection is upgraded to the next available level (up to Gig1 Fibre).
For example, if you currently have Virgin Media M125 Fibre Broadband (132 Mb) then Volt will boost you to Virgin Media M250 Fibre Broadband (264 Mb) instead.
Double mobile data
Volt gives double mobile data to every eligible O2 Pay Monthly plan in your household.
This is a good option if your family wants more roaming web data to keep streaming, playing or chatting outside the home.
Virgin Media Wi-Fi Pods
Households can enjoy “supercharged connectivity” with Volt. This is most useful for larger houses who may suffer from weak Wi-Fi coverage or signal loss.
Volt adds a Wi-Fi guarantee at no extra cost that offers up to 3 Wi-Fi pods if needed.
Each plug-in pod can extend your wireless home network for faster performance across all rooms.
O2 Travel Inclusive Zone
As a bonus for travellers and holidaymakers, access to the O2 Travel Inclusive Zone is also included. This allows customers to use their phone or O2 SIM in 75 destinations across Europe and beyond at no extra cost. You can also enjoy unlimited calls back home to the UK throughout your journey.

What is the Volt O2 Travel Inclusive Zone?
The O2 Travel Inclusive Zone is a bolt on that adds inclusive mobile roaming outside of Europe. It includes roaming in 27 countries outside of Europe and provides travellers with unlimited minutes, texts, and data allowance. While there’s no max downloads, the speed is capped at just 2Mb, which O2 insists is adequate for streaming video on your phone.
More information and a full list of O2 Inclusive Zone countries can be found here.
O2 Priority
O2 Priority gives free rewards to both O2 and Virgin Media broadband customers. You can sign up for these online and through the dedicated Priority Rewards & Tickets mobile app (iPhone only) for first access to Priority Tickets for gigs and events.
Families can also make savings with great discounts for shopping and eating out. If you’re feeling lucky, Priority runs competitions to win holidays, cars, cash and more.
Visit O2 Priority online to find out more and check the latest promotions.
Other Virgin Media Volt Extras
Volt customers can also expect to receive discounts on connected devices.
If you’re in the market for a tablet or smartwatch for example, you could get up to £150 off the retail price when signing up to a new O2 Pay Monthly Custom plan.
How do you get Volt benefits?
For new customers, the simplest way is to sign up to a dedicated Volt bundle. These packages include Virgin Media broadband and O2 mobile contracts with Volt benefits already applied.
Start by searching for Virgin Media packages that are available at your home.
Who else is eligible for Volt?
- Existing Virgin Media broadband customer who joins O2
- O2 customer who signs up to Virgin Media
- Customers already with Virgin Media O2
- Virgin Media and O2 customers who live at same address
Mobile perks only apply to the O2 Pay Monthly customers in the household. Unfortunately, Essential broadband customers on a social tariff will not be eligible for Volt.
How do you activate Volt?
Customers are asked to check their eligibility using the MyO2 account service.
For those Virgin Media broadband and O2 mobile accounts that match up by name, the Volt benefits should be added within 14 days.
What is Flex Volt?
Flex is Virgin Media’s new “flexible” TV package. It adds a mini Ultra HD TV box with access to over 150 TV channels including Sky Cinema, Sky Sports, Disney+ and more.
Flex can normally be added to any Virgin Media broadband package for £5 per month, on a 30-day rolling contract. Any extra channel packs and subscriptions are at additional cost.

What is the Mega Volt Bundle?
The Mega Volt Bundle is advertised as Virgin Media’s best all-in-one deal. It includes M500 Fibre Broadband that is then supercharged to Gig1 for average download speeds of 1.1Gb.
This comes with an O2 5G SIM with unlimited data and calls on an 18-month contract.
Virgin TV 360 provides 230+ channels with Netflix Standard thrown in too. Customers also receive the “Anytime Chatter” plan that gives free calls to UK landlines and mobiles.
How to find the best Virgin Media Volt deal
As you might expect, Volt is only available to homes that can get Virgin Media broadband. Your property needs to be in an area that is covered by the network.
Interested customers are advised to check deal availability by postcode and choose on that basis. Of course, you might also want to consider O2 mobile signal coverage for your area.
As with all broadband providers, we would recommend keeping a look-out for additional Virgin Media rewards. These regularly feature on our Broadband with Free Gifts page.

For new customers, the bundling of a broadband and mobile not only simplifies things but effectively doubles the value. This “supercharging” of download speed and mobile data could be a clever way to get more power at a much lower monthly price.
As always, just think carefully about what you need and the overall value in what Volt represents to you.
