Find your EE contract end date

How do you find out when your EE contract ends?

Looking to cut ties with EE? Whether you're looking to switch broadband, or you simply don't need a broadband contract anymore, you'll find all the helpful contacts, including EE phone numbers, on this page.

How to find your EE contract end date

Before you cancel EE, you should always check the status of your current contract and find out how long you have left on your agreement. Having this information will help you make the best decisions and avoid having to pay an early termination fee. You have a few different options to do this; either call EE, or there's also a quick text option to check if you're eligible for a broadband upgrade.

Call EE to find out how long is left on your contract

One quick way to find your EE contract end date is to call its customer services.

From an EE mobile, dial 150.

If you're calling from a landline or another provider, you can call 0330 123 1105.

To make a text relay call using the Relay UK service, dial 18001 and then 07953 966150.

Information for EE customers who signed up after 17 June 2022

  • In May 2024, Ofcom found BT (the parent of EE) to have failed to provide clear contract terms to customers
  • If you signed up to EE from 17 June 2022 through the EE website, app or store, you may now have the right to cancel your contract for free
  • If you're affected, you won't need to pay an early termination fee if you cancel
  • Customers should expect to receive contact by August 2024, but we recommend getting in touch with EE support if you want confirmation

Sign into your EE account. Select 'Plan & Add-ons' from the many and scroll down to the 'Plan Summary' Section to find your contract end date.

Out of contract? Find a new broadband deal

Switching broadband providers is a great way to save money. You could take advantage of a discount bonus with another internet service provider, or even get a cashback or voucher deal.

Just don't start the process until you're certain your EE contract is up, unless you're willing to pay for an early termination.

Switching to a new broadband service has never been easier. The 'One-Touch Switch' process that launched in 2024 means that any new provider you pick will be responsible for initiating the move and will get in touch with EE to cancel. As long as you're out of contract, and you have no early termination fees to pay, the switchover process should be seamless.

How to cancel EE Broadband

If you're out of contract: cancelling EE for free

Switching between providers is easy. In most cases, your new provider will handle all the admin for you.

If you're cancelling and not switching, you'll need to call EE on 0800 079 0544

You can find more contact information on our EE broadband customer service contacts, problems and complaints page.

Cancelling EE if you're still in contract

You'll still need to give EE a call if you are cancelling before your contract end date. However, if you do this, an early termination fee will be added to your final bill.

The only exception may be if you signed up after the 17th June 2022. In May 2024, Ofcom ruled that EE customers who signed up from this period didn't receive adequate contract information and a contract summary. Subsequently, these customers may be able to leave without penalty.

We recommend getting in touch with EE customer support if you'd like to leave EE and think you're eligible.

EE early cancellation fees

The amount you'll have to pay if you cancel your EE Broadband plan before the end of your contract will depend on your plan, any discounts you have applied, and how many months you have left in your minimum term.

Here's how EE calculates Early Cancellation Charges:

  • All outstanding monthly charges are added together (excluding VAT).
  • Any costs EE will save as a result of you leaving early are deducted.
  • 4% is taken off for early payment receipt.
  • This subtotal is multiplied by the remainder of your minimum term.
  • VAT is added on top of this for the final cancellation charge.

Cancelling EE broadband when moving home

If you cancel your EE broadband before your contract term is over, you'll be charged an early cancellation fee, as we've mentioned above.

If you're moving, you might not necessarily have to cancel your EE broadband package. You should be able to take your service with you. As EE uses the BT Openreach network, availability across the UK is good.

However, there's no guarantee and if you're signed up to one of its faster, full fibre products, you may have to accept a downgrade. You'll need to check the availability of your EE broadband package at your new address.

Speak to a member of the customer service team. Alternatively, for a quick check, try typing the postcode of your new address into its deals checker.

You will need to give at least three weeks notice when moving home.

  • What is Openreach?

Openreach is the company that maintains the former British Telecom Network used for the majority of broadband and phone services. If a repair or installation is required, it’s Openreach who will send an engineer, not your provider.

More than 650 service providers using the Openreach network. That’s the majority of the UK’s broadband providers. This includes Sky, TalkTalk and BT. The exception to this is Virgin Media - it uses its own, separate cable network.

Cancelling EE broadband in the event of death

You can use this online form to let EE know of a bereavement. You'll need to include the account holder's name and number, as well as a contact number for yourself.

Alternatively, call 150 from an EE phone or 07973 100 150 from any phone.

You'll be able to disconnect their broadband or number and close their account, or transfer the connection or number to someone else.

Frequently asked questions about cancelling EE

  • How much notice do I have to give EE to leave?

You're asked to give at least 30 days' notice to EE if you want to leave, even if your contract term has ended.

  • Do I need to return my EE Wi-Fi router?

If you're cancelling your broadband, you may be asked to return your router. If this is required, you'll be sent a pre-paid returns bag along with included instructions.

For more help, visit our 'how to recycle a Wi-Fi router' guide. Or visit, EE's return and recycle guide.

  • Can I keep my phone number when I leave EE?

If you're leaving EE and want to keep your phone number, you'll need to request a PAC code.

  • Can I cancel for free if my EE broadband is too slow?

EE is signed up to the Ofcom broadband speed code of practice.

This means you may be able to end your contract early if your broadband connection is slower than the estimate provided when you signed up. You’ll need to ask EE to investigate the issue first, but if they’re unable to resolve the problem, you can be released from the deal without penalty.

Expert Summary

Cancelling your EE broadband package shouldn't be difficult, especially if you're out of contract.

Make sure you call or log into your EE online account to check when your minimum term agreement ends.

We highly recommend doing some research on alternative broadband deals before you cancel. This gives you the best chance of working out where you can get the best value deal if you're offered any upgrade incentives over the phone. You can do this using our deals checker.

If you're still under contract, ask for a full calculation of any early termination fees you might have to pay.
