What is Openreach?
Openreach is the company that maintains the former British Telecom Network used for the majority of broadband and phone services. If a repair or installation is required, it’s Openreach who will send an engineer, not your provider.
More than 650 service providers using the Openreach network. That’s the majority of the UK’s broadband providers. This includes Sky, TalkTalk and BT. The exception to this is Virgin Media - it uses its own, separate cable network.
This is currently the fastest unlimited home broadband connection available, as sadly, Virgin Media broadband isn't available in Chester.
Other exchanges around Chester have more limited availability. The Christleton exchange has fibre optic internet, but only through TalkTalk.

Comparing mobile broadband in Chester
Coverage across all four network operators — O2, Vodafone, EE, and Three — is very good in Chester. Central areas are blanketed by 4G signal, and it extends to outlying areas including Blacon, Upton, Guilden Sutton, Christleton and Eccleston. As this is a populated part of the country, coverage is plentiful in most directions, with the only major drop in connectivity occurring in western areas toward North Wales.
The latest 5G technology is also available through EE and Three Mobile, though coverage of this new service is limited.
