What is Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Cyber Week?

Black Friday is an annual sales event that takes place on the last Friday of November. It started in the USA as a way to mark the start of the Christmas shopping season after Thanksgiving. It’s now reached the UK and has led to customers getting some great deals this side of the pond, too. Do watch out, though. These deals aren’t always quite as good as they look, and similar offers may have been available throughout the year!

The Monday following Black Friday is focused on online deals, so is known as Cyber Monday. That said, more companies are offering online deals on Black Friday now, too, so keep an eye out.

Recently, deals have started even earlier than that, so the week leading up to Black Friday is dubbed 'Cyber Week'.

Does Broadband Genie post Black Friday broadband deals?

Broadband companies usually have Black Friday deals. If you want to know what the best offers are, you can check out the deals above.

There will be deals for various broadband packages with different providers. Cyber Week could be a good time to switch.

When are Black Friday broadband offers available?

The next Black Friday falls on the 28th November 2025.

But as things become highly competitive around this time of year, we can expect some broadband providers to jump the gun. They’ll start offering their deals earlier in the hope of grabbing more customers.

This means that if you’re after a great deal on new home broadband or broadband bundles, you’ll want to keep an eye out for deals throughout November. It's not unusual for deals to remain available for several days after Black Friday, too.

Of course, Broadband Genie will be on top of things, and we’ll let you know as soon as a deal becomes available. Check our reward pages and follow us on Facebook.

What are the typical Black Friday Broadband deals?

You’ll be able to get all kinds of broadband packages with all sorts of offers. These include:

Reward cards, cashback and gift cards

Most providers will offer a reward such as an Amazon gift card, shopping vouchers, or another form of cashback with their deals. These can be pretty generous and make a deal considerably cheaper effectively.

Price reductions

The simplest deals, but often the most effective. Sometimes providers will just lower their monthly costs for Black Friday. These tend to be larger the more you take out on your package. For example, Sky will usually offer significant reductions on broadband and TV.

Bill credits

You may find providers offer a ‘bill credit’ as part of their Black Friday offer. What this means is you won’t have to pay a monthly fee until it’s used up. If you snap up a Black Friday deal with a bill credit this often means there are no bills to pay around January - handy when your balance is recovering over New Year!

Expert Summary

Black Friday is a great opportunity to get a new broadband package. But it will help for you to have an idea of what you want before you go looking for a deal. We'd recommend spending some time thinking about what speed you need, what kind of extras you might want, and how much you’re willing to spend.

If you’re currently in the market for a new broadband deal and November isn’t too far off, it can often pay to wait until Black Friday to get the biggest saving.

No matter what type of deal you go with, don’t let the freebies or lower contract prices draw you in if you wouldn’t get that sort of deal normally. They can be very tempting, but they’re supposed to be a bonus that helps you. So don’t be swayed if they’re not adding value.

Black Friday deals are definitely worth looking out for, and here at Broadband Genie, you can compare and buy the best bargains around.
